About this podcast

B2B Startup Growth is a podcast aimed to spread modern Sales and Marketing wisdom and share it with the world. I’m Shoham Eckhaus, the chief strategist at Penguin, a B2B Tech digital SMarketing agency. (SMarketing stands for sales & marketing). On the show I aim to answer the questions that are on the ‘top of mind’ for startup founders and sales and marketing leaders of tech companies, some of them are rising startups and some are mature tech companies. The episodes and interviews reveal stories about successes and failures, and focus on the useful learnings along the journey.

In the past decade I’ve had the privilege to work with dozens of B2B tech startups. About a half of them are Israeli companies, and about a half are American. Working with some of the smartest marketers on both sides of the Atlantic has lead me to identify some of the practices that Israeli startups excel in, and those they tend to be weaker at. The same thing is true for American marketing leaders. They tend to excel in slightly different aspects of the job.

I see it as my mission to expose in this podcast the ideas and practices that Americans can learn from Israelis, and vice versa.

A bit of background about Shoham Eckhaus

I’m a B2B Growth Hacker, passionate about helping tech companies build and maintain effective “marketing machines”. I’m an entrepreneur, a marketer, a product manager, a system engineer and a yogi. I bring all of that into everything that I do.

When I started my career many years ago, I was a system engineer building telecommunications infrastructure products for carriers. From the start I was always drawn to the business side, and so moving into product management was the natural evolution for me. I spent over 10 years serving as product manager and later as head of product management for a few innovative B2B technology companies including Telrad Networks, Be Connected, VocalTech, Alvarion, Mobixell.

In 2007 I came across an opportunity to work with a few very brilliant entrepreneurs, helping them as their “outsourced CMO” and that encouraged me to establish my consulting firm ClearPMM, which mainly focused on ‘Product Discovery and Growth Hacking’ for early stage B2B tech startups. 

In 2017 I started to work in cooperation with Penguin Strategies, and within a few months it was clear that this was a match made in heaven, and so we merged our business together.  

Since then, I’ve been leading the strategy team in Penguin, working with dozens of B2B tech companies, building their customer acquisition machines and optimizing their growth.

What’s the unique angle that this podcast brings to the world?

I happen to live in Israel, which is a very unique country. It has its problems, for sure! But our unique circumstances have also created here an amazing eco-system for tech startups to emerge. I have been very lucky to have first-hand experience with some of those exquisite startups. I believe that there are certain things Israeli startup founders do very differently than most founders in other places in the world. Some of it is brilliant – and that is is the part I’d love to share with the rest of the world.
